Hope you enjoyed Part I of this story! The second part of this three-part journey begins with an unusual but exhilarating version of dog sledding—this time, on wheels! Then I journey through some of Iceland's most stunning natural landmarks.
The dawn was a canvas of pastel hues, promising an adventure-filled day ahead. Instead of traditional dog sledding over snow and ice, I tried an Icelandic twist: dog sledding on wheeled sleds. An enthusiastic team of huskies pulled me along winding trails surrounded by lush landscapes and rocky terrains. The wind against my face felt invigorating, as if each gust carried a sprinkle of Icelandic magic.
From wheeled sleds to saddles, my mode of travel took a more traditional turn. I mounted an Icelandic horse, uniquely adapted to its rugged homeland. We trotted through lush greens and , making it feel like I had entered a land from a fantasy novel.
What a way to end the day!
I woke the next day ready to explore more natural wonders. I started my morning at Þingvellir National Park. This place is so rich in history and geological wonders that you can almost feel the sagas seeping out of the ground beneath your feet. The main event was Öxarárfoss, a waterfall that’s as challenging to pronounce as it is mesmerizing to look at. Its water seemed to narrate stories of ancient Iceland as it cascaded over the rocks.
But the day wasn’t done showing off yet! I then went to the Geysir Geothermal Area. I can't describe the anticipation of waiting for the Strokkur Geysir to erupt. It’s a bit like waiting for fireworks, but way more unpredictable. And when it finally erupted, wow, just wow! It felt like a standing ovation from Mother Earth herself.
The adventure continued at Gullfoss Falls. Picture this: a waterfall so immense, it’s more like a wall of water than anything else. The sound alone was like a symphony of nature, and I stood there awestruck.
Finally, I wrapped up the day at Faxi Waterfall. This was a peaceful, serene counterpoint to the day’s earlier excitement. I took some time just to sit, reflect, and feel grateful for the incredible journey so far
And so, dear readers, that’s the end of Part II. I’m just as excited as you are to see what the final chapter in Iceland has in store for me. Buckle up, because if the first two parts are any indication, the conclusion is going to be absolutely unforgettable.
