This place is amazing. Hold up. Stop. Rewind. Let me recap if you’re just joining in. I’m taking advantage of a pretayyyy cool day job that takes me to some amazing places around the world, and this time I’m in Anchorage, Alaska. I have a few days to explore before heading home and I just took a (queue the Gulligan’s Island opening theme) 12 hour boat tour yesterday… only it was 4 times longer than Gilligan’s and no marooning soooo YAY!
While I had seen some amazing things the day before, I could no longer ignore the sirens calling from to mountain peaks. Now, I’m more of a off-the-beaten path kinda guy but I thought that hiking though unknown (to me) wilderness without proper hiking gear probably wasn’t a great idea. After some internet soothing, I found my next jaunt. Just East of Anchorage, a quick drive on Route 1 took me to Flat Top Mountain. There’s a great trail that takes you to the top of… errr… Flat Top. Take a look at some of the pictures I snapped while making my way up!
Well that was great but since I was visiting at peak daylight hours, I still had plenty of time to continue exploring. I decided to drive South along Route 1 to see what I could find. As I drove further away from the city, the more the true beauty was shining through. This place is a photographers dream. Check out the photos below.
I hope you enjoyed them and check back soon for more adventures!
